Since I was 7, I often participated in drawings competition and always got first, second, or third place. The last time, I am a champion in street art competition. Championship for me is an appreciation of the process I have done, so that I could be better in the future.

In this modern age, art is about beauty. Every art works are the expression of artists. Art and life are two things that goes side by side, can you imagine world without art? Isn’t it a dull place? In every country, art has different role. In west country, art is a primary needs. While in Indonesia, an east country which is still a developing country, art is a tertiary needs.
For all of you who wants to be an artist, keep practicing and keep the spirit. Don’t ever feel that you are not talented. Talent is just a ‘title’ given to someone who can do something. In this world, there’s only trained people, not talented people.

Bullying in workplace is absolutely a not mature behavior
Bullying is not only occurs among children, but also adults life. There are various bullying around us, cyber bullying, college life, and even workplace. Bullying by adults is different from children or teenagers. Adults should have better emotional control than teenagers, so when adults do bullying, they do it intentionally and by design. Usually, the victim of bullying in workplace is a junior employee who should still needs guidance from their leader. I have experience and have witnessed a lot of bullying cases in workplace. It is often done by senior who wants to keep their ‘superior’ status.
In many cases, sometimes the victim doesn’t know what he/she has done and make others in office don’t like him/her. I found that sometimes someone hates others with just no reason. Sounds like not mature? Yes of course. I am not surprise anymore with that fact because bullying itself is a not mature behavior.
The best response when we get bullied in workplace is just give the best performance of your working so that they don’t get satisfied because you don’t get down. They don’t deserve your attention. Do not even think for revenge. If we do same things with them, it means we have same bad behavior quality with them who do bullying. Don’t forget to make introspection of yourself, are they right? Maybe they do have reason, or maybe you do something that hurts others without your intention in the first place. And the next thing to do is just move on and let it go. The most important is just stay to be a good and nice person. Because I believe, there is always a good place for a good person.

When I decide to have higher education overseas, I told myself that I should learn from the best
I never know what career I’m going to be live in the future when I was going to college. One thing that I am always sure is I found the excitement every time when I figured out the mystery behind structure of the compound. My interest to life science has been seen since I was elementary school student. Sometimes together with my father, we made small science experiment, like salt water egg experiment, to witness how the object sink and float.
As I have passion to synchronize chemistry and molecular biology that applied to improve the comprehension of plant growth and its resistance from the disease, I told to myself that I should learn from the best. I got full scholarship for master degree from Netherland Scholarship program in Wageningen University and Research which is the best University in the world in Agriculture and Forestry field. Then I have contract with Wageningen University as a Research Assistant / PhD employee. I am doing research Parasponia tropical plant which is the only one non-legume plant that has ability to symbiotic with rhizobia (nitrogen-fixing bacteria). This intracellular symbiotic will make plants fulfilled its Nitrogen need and not required inorganic fertilizer. Together with Molecular Laboratory Team in Wageningen University, we are trying to identify this special pathway and trying to answer a long standing question about the possibility to transfer this capability to other plants.
The molecular biology field that I am living now has only few enthusiasts especially among Indonesian scientists. For me, every science has its own challenge. Sometimes, there are factors that can make it easy and in some cases we need to do further research and even collaborate with other science.
I joined Pusat Teknologi Produksi Tanaman (PTPP) which is under Badan Pengkajian dan Penerapan Teknologi (BPPT), one of the non-ministerial government institution in Indonesia. With my colleagues here, I get involved in research project to improve quality of plants growth and plant resistance to disease. The projects mentioned are:

PT. Ecody Agro Energy that I lead, was established at 2014 when I was 38. Waste water treatment technology that we used utilized biogas as a gas engine fuel to generate electricity. I have my own satisfaction when my work could actually beneficial to society, especially for unfortunate society who had not yet get electricity supply. Waste water that PT. Ecody Agro Energy treated could generate electricity to be bought by PLN (Perusahaan Listrik Negara) and to distribute to society. We just finished the biogas project in Kalimantan and Jambi under PT. Wijaya Karya, both projects produced 1 MWe electricity capacity.

To be a mother is a best gift in this life
It has been 28 children I have been raised during my time as a mother of SOS Children’s Village Cibubur. There are a lot of moments I have been through, sweet and bitter. SOS Children’s Village is the lovely home for children who have lost or at the risk of losing parental care. Sometimes, when their biological family wants to take back of their child, we don’t have choice but to let go. Despite the child doesn’t want to come back to their family, under the law of Indonesia their biological family has rights to take back of their child. I have sad experience here, I have raised a girl since she was a baby until she become a teenager. She is a clever and diligent kid. I loved her just like my own daughter. And one day, her biological parents want to take her back. I let her go, one year later I heard that she married by wishes of her parents. My heart hurts so bad. I raised her with all my heart wishing she will become what she wants to be. Graduate from higher education as she always dreams of. But her dreams and her potential became such a wasted because of too early young marriage.
My kids in SOS Children’s Village Cibubur have regarded as my biological children. I remember I bring all my children to my hometown, Tulung Agung during school holiday. Kids were so happy and enjoy the train trip. Everybody who seen us were amazed how I take care kids this much and wonder why the children’s faces are different from one another. One has Javanese face, one has Flores face, and even Bataknese face. I just laughed and convincing them that they are my children.
As time passes by, next year will be my last year as a mother of SOS Children’s Village. I wish the next mother who replace me could enjoy and love the children like I did. Because to be a mother is the most beautiful gift in this life.
