I want everybody all around the world to get to know and could enjoy traditional Balinese dance
I don’t want to learn traditional Balinese dance at the first time when I was 5. Still in my memory I was crying when my mom who is a former Balinese dancer when she was young, took me to traditional Balinese dance school at Jakarta. But anyway, my family’s art-blood streams stronger than my fear. As time goes by I finally found that Balinese dancing is the one I enjoy the most.
Beside the beauty, graceful and elegant of dancing, a Balinese dance move involved entire our parts of body to move all the way. From eyes, head, neck, waist, hand, fingers, feet and even your body position. For me, Balinese dancing is like my own sport. When you move your body, it can make you healthy and shaped your body. The best thing when you totally understand moving technique of Balinese dance is you must easier if you want to learn another traditional dance. There is one dance I love the most name Kanyaka Sura, it told us about a woman warrior who has gentle kind-hearted yet tough attitude.
Balinese dance should be passed down to the next generation. So that the beauty of Balinese dance will never get extinct. I just come back from Vietnam, performed Balinese dance in ASEAN 50 event. I want everybody in this world to get to know and enjoy the traditional Balinese dance.
